PASSPORT FAQs
-
A second passport is your alternate passport issued by a third country. It works like a backup insurance that guarantees your safety and allows you to flee to another country in times of desperate situations like wars, natural disasters, or political crises. It gives you extensive travel freedom taking advantage of visa waiver agreements between countries. For example, if you have a St. Kitts and Nevis passport, you can travel to Canada, the UK, and Europe without applying for a visa.

For instance, some countries need you to carry a valid passport for as long as three months after your date of entry. This means that even if your trip will only last for a few weeks, the country will deny access if your passport expires in three months.
-
Reasons for denying a passport include a valid, unsealed federal warrant of arrest, a federal or state criminal court order, a condition of parole or probation forbidding departure from the United States (or the jurisdiction of the court), or an extradition request.
-
The 'Six-Month Rule' stipulates that your passport should have at least six months of validity remaining from the date of your entry or departure to or from the international destination. If your passport expiration date is sooner than six months from your date of arrival, you may not be admitted.
-
When a border agent scans your passport, the computer system runs your information against the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database and flags any active arrest warrants. The NCIC is not comprehensive, and not all active arrest warrants are present in its database.

If the Secretary of the Treasury informs us that you have seriously delinquent tax debt, we cannot issue a U.S. passport to you. In addition, they may revoke your current U.S. passport. Seriously delinquent tax debt is your unpaid, legally enforceable federal tax debt (includes interest and penalties).
-
If the child support is being collected through the state and you owe more than $2,500 in support but do not have an approved and actively arranged payment plan, the passport application will be denied, which will make travel to other countries impossible.
-
Your important information is printed on the data page of the passport and stored in the chip. This includes your name, date of birth and other biographic information.
-
If you applied for your passport when you were 16 or older, your passport is good for 10 years, so you have lots of time to make awesome global memories! Passports issued to anyone younger than 16 are valid for 5 years. Since your passport is valid for so long, we recommend getting a passport book with 52 pages instead of 28 so you have plenty of room for your future stamp collection.

With its stunning scenery and vibrant cultures drawing visitors from across the globe, the Caribbean is one of the world’s top tourist destinations. The Caribbean has an educated, multilingual workforce and sophisticated financial systems, and is a short hop to the United States, Mexico and other large markets. The region has big potential to further develop its services, logistics, agriculture, creative and digital sectors. Rich ocean resources drive the “blue economy” in these markets. While the small size of these countries can prove challenging, it also means they can respond quickly to opportunities for innovation and to improve their competitiveness. The key to maintaining the value of their passports in terms of visa-free travel privileges is to ensure that they are very selective about who is granted citizenship so as not to give other countries a reason to impose a visa. The governments are acutely aware of this and contract third-party U.S. firms to vet their clients.
